Where my focus is right now

A short overview of what I’m working on, learning, and deliberately prioritising.

What I'm doing now

As of January 2026, here are a few things I’m focused on:

  • Teaching physics and programming part time while rebuilding depth as a frontend developer.
  • Refreshing my React fundamentals (hooks, component patterns, state management) and applying them in real code, not just tutorials.
  • Building modern, content-driven websites with Astro through my own small company, with an emphasis on long-term maintainability.
  • Starting a small React app for a friend: a spells-only tracker for our D&D sessions, designed for quick table use and offline-friendly state.
  • Keeping my work grounded by shipping small iterations, writing short notes about what I’m learning, and improving my portfolio as I go.

What I'm not doing

To stay focused, here are a few things I’m intentionally not prioritizing right now:

  • Chasing new tools or frameworks just to appear “up to date”. I’m choosing depth and fundamentals over novelty.
  • Building overly large side projects without a real user or constraint to shape the work.
  • Overcommitting, I’m keeping space for learning, building, and doing the work properly.

This Now page is a living snapshot. I update it whenever my focus shifts in a meaningful way.
